Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 09th October 2026

We want Hoof & Habitat’s online spaces to be useful, welcoming and safe places to learn, ask questions and share ideas. This policy explains the standards we expect from people using our website and social media channels.

Where this policy applies

This policy applies to public interactions with Hoof & Habitat, including:

  • Comments on our website pages and blog posts

  • Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube accounts, including comments, posts, messages and live sessions

  • Any other online community or channel that we operate

It applies to anyone who views, comments, posts, messages or otherwise interacts with these spaces. It also applies to anyone we authorise to help manage or represent our channels.

The rules of each platform also apply. If a platform’s rules differ from this policy, users must follow both.

How to take part

Please:

  • Be respectful, even when you disagree.

  • Keep comments relevant to the topic and make criticism constructive.

  • Share information honestly. Make it clear when you are expressing an opinion or personal experience.

  • Respect the privacy of others. Do not post anyone’s personal information, private messages or images without their permission.

  • Use our public comments for general discussion. For questions about an order or account, contact us privately.

  • Make sure you have the rights and permissions needed for anything you post.

Our content covers seeds, pasture management, environmental, animal and agricultural sciences and learning. Please remember that general information shared in posts or comments may not suit every farm, field, animal or situation. For advice tailored to your circumstances, contact us to discuss the support available.

Content and behaviour we do not allow

Do not post, share, send or link to content that:

  • Is unlawful, threatening, harassing, abusive, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, racist or hateful.

  • Encourages violence, self-harm, dangerous activity or harm to people, animals or property.

  • Targets or intimidates someone, including through repeated unwanted contact.

  • Shares another person’s private, identifying or confidential information without permission.

  • Is false or misleading in a way that could cause harm, or impersonates another person or organisation. This includes presenting opinion or hypotheses as fact as we are a source of online education.

  • Infringes someone else’s copyright, trade mark, privacy or other rights.

  • Contains spam, scams, phishing attempts, malware, harmful links or misleading promotions.

  • Advertises, endorses or solicits business without our permission.

  • Is unrelated to the discussion, posted repeatedly, or designed to disrupt the conversation.

We may also restrict content that is otherwise lawful if we consider it irrelevant, disruptive or unsuitable for our channels.

Copyright and other rights

Please only post text, photographs, videos, music, graphics or other material that you created or are authorised to use. If you quote or share someone else’s work, credit them where appropriate and make sure your use is permitted.

Our website articles, photographs, videos, graphics and other content belong to us or our licensors unless stated otherwise. You may link to our public content and share it using the platform’s normal sharing features. Please do not copy, republish, sell or adapt our content without our written permission.

When you post content on one of our channels, you keep ownership of it. You give us permission to display, store and moderate it on that channel, and to use it as needed to administer or promote that channel. We will not claim ownership of your content. If we wish to use your content, we will obtain written permission before doing so.

Comments and other user contributions

We may review comments and other contributions, but we cannot guarantee that every item will be checked before it appears. We may hide, remove, restrict or report content that breaks this policy, breaches a platform rule or creates a safety, privacy or legal concern.

We may limit or block accounts that repeatedly breach the policy, spam our channels or contact people abusively. We may take urgent action without contacting the person first. We may retain relevant records where reasonably necessary to manage a complaint, protect safety or comply with the law.

A comment posted by another user represents that user’s views. Its appearance on our channel does not mean that we endorse it.

If you believe content on a Hoof & Habitat channel breaches this policy or your rights, email info@hoofandhabitat.co.uk. Please include the link or a clear description of where the content appears and explain your concern. Do not include sensitive personal information unless it is needed to explain the issue.

If you help manage our channels

Anyone authorised to post or moderate on behalf of Hoof & Habitat must:

  • Use a respectful, professional tone and follow this policy.

  • Protect customer, learner and business information. Do not share private messages, order details, passwords or other confidential information.

  • Keep personal opinions separate from official Hoof & Habitat communications. Do not present personal views as the business’s position.

  • Avoid making promises, commitments or claims on behalf of Hoof & Habitat unless authorised.

  • Raise serious complaints, safety concerns, legal notices or suspected data breaches with us promptly.

  • Use account access and customer information only for their authorised work.

We may remove channel access and take appropriate internal action if someone managing our channels seriously or repeatedly breaches these standards.

How this policy works

We may update this policy as our channels and services change. The latest version will be published on our website.

This policy applies alongside our website terms and privacy notice, where available. It does not replace the rules or terms of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or other platforms.

Our channels may be accessed from different countries. Users are responsible for following the laws that apply to them, as well as this policy and the relevant platform rules. This policy is not a complete statement of the law in every country.
